Venturex Completes 12 Hole Drill Program on its LJ Property
October 11, 2007
West Vancouver, British Columbia – October 11, 2007 – Venturex Explorations Inc. (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has completed its 2007 drill program on the Carnes Creek showing of the Company’s “LJ Property” located 35 km north-northeast of Revelstoke, B.C. The Company has an option to acquire a 49% working interest in the LJ Property from Selkirk Metals Holdings Corp. (“Selkirk”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Selkirk Metals Corp.
In its 2007 drill program, the Company completed 12 helicopter supported drill holes for a total of 2,600 metres of NQ core. The core was logged and split and samples were sent to Acme Analytical Laboratories for analysis and assay. The 2007 program was designed to follow up on the Company’s 2006 drill program and advance exploration of its “Carnes Creek” zinc-lead showing. In 2005, Selkirk drilled 3 initial holes on the LJ Property that included drill hole LJ05-02 which intersected 15 metres assaying 6.81% zinc, 2.69% lead and 3.93 g/t silver from 122.8 to 137.8 metres, including 10.70% zinc, 4.90% lead and 9.40 g/t silver over 5 metres from 132.8 to 137.8 metres (as reported in Selkirk’s news release dated October 24, 2005). The style of mineralization is believed to be sedimentary exhalative massive sulphide (SEDEX), containing massive pyrite, sphalerite and galena. In 2006, the Company was successful in intersecting massive sulphide mineralization in seven of the ten holes that it drilled. The Company’s 2006 drilling extended the strike of the mineralized structure for 200 metres. The Company’s 2007 drill program tested the mineralized horizon and all 12 holes intersected one to two metres of massive sulphide mineralization. The 2007 drilling also intersected skarn alteration and up to 10 metres of disseminated mineralization indicative of metasomatic activity and the nearby presence of an intrusive body (although the intrusive body was not intersected by the drilling). Additionally, several soil and stream sediment geochemical lines were completed in the southern Carnes Creek valley in an attempt to locate the exposure of the mineralized unit in that area.
Assay results from the drilling and surface work are pending and will be reported when received and reviewed.
